Nomination
A nomination is when an individual or group selects a candidate to run for office. Some associations allow self-nominations, where a person proposes themselves as a candidate, while others only allow nominations from others or formal proposals from committees. Most associations review nominations to make sure potential candidates are eligible to run for office according to the organization’s bylaws. Once someone receives a valid nomination, they become a candidate.
