Candidate
A candidate is a person who either volunteers themselves or receives a nomination to run for a position in the association. Candidacies are usually for board positions, like board chairman or representing a segment of the membership. An organization’s bylaws dictate who can and can’t be a candidate, listing specific eligibility requirements. If the candidate meets these criteria, they campaign to gain support from members. Successful candidates share their professional experience, goals for the association, and what sets them apart from other candidates listed on the ballot.
