Ranked-choice Voting (RCV)
Ranked-choice voting (RCV) allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference instead of just choosing a single candidate. If no candidate receives a majority of first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and their votes are redistributed based on the voters’ next preferences. The ranked-choice voting process continues until a candidate receives a majority vote. RCV helps associations achieve more representative outcomes in elections, reducing the likelihood of having a winner the majority opposes. It also minimizes the need for separate runoff votes.
