Success Story: Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association
Client Profile:
Established in 1939, Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association (PVREA) is one of Colorado’s largest electric cooperatives. Covering the counties of Larimer, Weld, and Boulder, PVREA serves approximately 35,000 member-owners.
Client Challenge:
Prior to using Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS), PVREA handled our election in-house. We found that mailing to each of our members and tabulating votes was a much bigger job than anticipated. Opening and counting ballots at the annual meeting was time consuming for our staff, taking them away from their primary responsibilities. In addition, we wanted to completely remove ourselves from the democratic process in order to eliminate any type of speculation on how the election was being run.
SBS Solution:
We have been using SBS’ election services since 2009. SBS was selected based on recommendations from other cooperatives in the area. SBS has made the voting process easy and has significantly limited PVREA staff time spent on the election. SBS designs the ballots and voting materials then sends it over to us for approval. The election process they have put in place is efficient and orderly – the SBS staff knows what they are doing.
PVREA staff has nothing but high praise and positive marks for SBS’ work. Relationships are important to our organization and we feel that we have that with the SBS staff. We have had the pleasure of recommending SBS to other cooperatives in the area and it is our intention to work with them in the future.
