Nearly 70 million Americans live in communities with Home Owner Associations, often referred to as HOAs. That’s a lot of by-laws and regulations to track, especially when it comes to elections.

HOAs work like miniature democracies — which require significant input from residents and occasionally property managers. The volunteers running HOA elections might be too focused on logistics to have a complete understanding of all community by-laws and election regulations. Many residents also work full-time, which can make volunteers scarce because of this commitment level.
